statement of indent

For my print advertisement, I will make sure it complies to the rules set out by ASA. For example, it will not contain content that can cause any offence or distress to members of the public this would include not involving graphic violence or harm that can cause widespread sense fear od discomfort. This is particularly important for this print as the brief says the advertisements would be on billboards in towns or cities where it can be seen by people who are not the target audience for example young children and could upset and cause them to ask their parents uncomfortable questions. The broadcast time of my documentary would be around 8-9 in the evening as this would be appropriate for my target audience as the content is not suitable for young children. For the documentary to be successful I will have images of the criminal presented in a dark and negative sense by having the posters that show the murder in a dark black and red colour scheme this is to create negative image...

rejected ideas

Image
One of my poster ideas was to have the killer standing in a field with a shovel and headlights as the lighting to represent the killer hiding a body but decided against it as it was difficult to achieve with the time frame and to get someone with a car to help me.               I also rejected the draft that includes the body bag and police tape based on time and access to resources and replaced the idea with something more achievable that also focused more on the killer and his mask.

idea for documentary

my documentary is going to be a true crime documentary which focus on a serial killer, whose signature  symbol is the mask he wears. So, I have decided to name the documentary in the shadow of a killer, and my tagline will be “inside a mind built for murder” . I made up this concept for my documentary as true crime is popular with the target audience as I went and asked some of my friends who fit the target audience, what documentary they would watch, and they all said true crime. My posters will largely focus on the killer and elements of his identity to demonstrate the documentaries focus and the key details of his crimes. For example, most of my posters will have the mask as the main element as it is his signature look, although my drafts don’t show this, that is because I didn’t have the mask on me to draw into the drafts.

Some of the top genres of documentaries are crime and justice taking up 28% of viewers closely followed by history with 27% and then science and nature taking 25%. Documentaries target all ages and genders but is often favoured by the older generation as they often relate with more of the content as they have either lived through the event or enjoy long form content. history of documentaries

The genre began with the invention of the Cinematography by the Lumière brothers in 1895. This then changed in the 1930s when governments started to fun then for social reform and propaganda in the war years. most notably Leni Riefenstahl's Triumph of the Will (1935). Some well-known documentaries are Nanook of the North (1922) this was one of the fist hits of the genre it captivated audiences by bringing a distant, icy culture to the mainstream. While some scenes were staged, its beautiful photography and focus on human struggle established the documentary as a "living museum" of the world. Another popular documentary is the Night and Fog (1955) this half-hour film is considered a touchstone for its direct, unassertive treatment of the Holocaust. It gained lasting popularity by forcing audiences to confront historical trauma through a poetic yet stark meditation on memory and dehumanization. Over the years documentaries have evolved from an educational tool to a domi...
